1. Swimming (treading water) burns 35 calories every 10 mins for a 123lb woman and 48 calories for a 170 lb man.
2. Tennis burns 61 calories every 10 mins for a 123lb woman and 81 calories for a 170 lb man.
3. Weight Training (circuit training) burns 104 calories every 10 mins for a 123lb woman and 137 calories for a 170 lb man.
4. Weight Training (muscular strength) burns 44 calories every 10 mins for a 123lb woman and 60 calories for a 170 lb man.
5. Weight Training (muscular endurance) burns 58 calories every 10 minutes for a 123lb woman and 80 calories for a 170 lb man.
6. Walking burns 45 calories every 10 mins for a 123lb woman and 59 calories for a 170 lb man.
Add these activities to your daily schedule and you will see some significant weight loss.

I LOVE to swim , and used to do it all the time as a youth and teen especially, the tan you get is the best part of it, and of course you get naturally fit and in shape without REALLY trying to do anything but just goof off in the pool w/ your friends.

These tips are great. It can be really motivating to know how much weight you can lose doing day to day things. I am such an inactive person, I really need to start finding the motivation somehow.

see the weight training aspect will not only burn up calories, but preserve muscle mass (lean muscle mass), so you maintain your metabolism from slowing using the reduction of muscle usually accompanied with cardio only coaching. you burn calorries throughout, after- afterburn or epoc (up to 48 hrs), and during muscle fix also as each and every pound of lean muscle you have uses up around 15 calories per day. so all of it adds up. this also allows you to considerably shape your body as soon as you have removed the body fat.
